Maisha means LIFE
We are
Mission
View
We are a nonprofit organization that was born in collaboration between Chile and Kenya. We are committed to achieving dignity, accompanying women, mothers, and young people.
Our mission is to support and offer growth opportunities to pregnant women, mothers, and young people in vulnerable contexts.
Our vision is to be the main support network for women, ensuring that every mother welcomes her child in the dignified conditions they both deserve.
Values
RESPECT FOR LIFE
We are committed to respecting the life and dignity of the human person.
RESPONSIBILITY
Our commitment to life translates into concrete support for pregnant women, mothers and adolescents who require a support network.
COOPERATION
We work collaboratively and value the cultural crossroads between diverse communities. We work as a team, horizontally and relying on local actors to carry out our projects.
EQUITY
We work for gender equity, offering equal opportunities and guaranteeing non-discrimination.
Objectives
Accompany children, adolescents and young people in the different stages of their development under a personalistic view of their affectivity and sexuality.
Train local monitors to enable the program to be replicated on an ongoing basis in Kenya.
Guarantee menstrual hygiene supplies to communities in need. Each delivery of reusable sanitary pads will be accompanied by an educational workshop focusing on the menstrual cycle and feminine hygiene recommendations.
Offer a temporary home and a safe place for mothers who do not have a support network, in order to meet the basic needs of the woman and her newborn by providing supplies, food and care.
Ensure that mothers and their children receive health care before, during and after childbirth.
Continuous follow-up of mothers and newborns through home visits.
Educate and train local health personnel to enhance skills in the community itself.
Empower mothers through tools that enable them to support their families autonomously and safely.
